I have to confess: I haven’t been as productive as I’d like to be despite being home all the time. If you happen to be reading this in the distant future, I’m writing from the great COVID-19 era while under the stay-at-home order. This means no thrift shopping, visiting plant nurseries, or hitting up home improvement stores for fun. In all honesty, being in my jammies most days doesn’t help much either.
Anyway, since the accent wall project in my home office / guest bedroom about a month ago, I worked on a mini gallery wall next to the daybed. Katrin at Poster Place Studio was kind enough to gift me some lovely prints for this project. I thought it would be perfect to mix her modern minimalist art with gold vintage frames for a polished yet eclectic look.
I luckily had some frames I previously collected (read: hoarded) but needed a couple more. Since stores were closed, I ventured down to the basement and dug up a few I used at our old apartment. One of them got a facelift with some Rub ‘n Buff.
I always plan out gallery walls with paper cutouts. It helps me figure out the design in person and prevents mistakes when nailing holes. Packing paper is perfect for this.
Then it was just a matter of nailing in the holes, removing the paper, and hanging the framed photos! I ended up swapping one of the small frames on the left with a wider one.
All but one is thrifted – can you guess which one it is?
Answer: The frame on the far right is from IKEA!
