How I Transformed a Thrifted West Elm Table

October 21, 2020

It’s true. I have spent a good part of this year drooling over gorgeous dining tables outside of our budget, endlessly refreshing the Facebook Marketplace page, and considering building a table myself. Our old table was a $30 garage sale find that came with chairs that we ditched years ago. I was waiting for a big sale to drop or something to justify us buying the Liv Round Marble Dining Table from West Elm. Then I came across the Silhouette Pedestal Round Dining Table on Craigslist. It wasn’t my first choice, but it was available at a discounted price in the perfect 44″ size. We decided to go for it.

I knew that I was going to have to do something to the base. The nickel would clash with our brass accents and just wasn’t my taste. I had initially wanted to do a fluted pedestal base this past summer. But after two fluted projects (my DIY coffee and side tables) and seeing a good number of fluted dining tables on Instagram, I opted to do something more simple and original.

Paint is as simple and original as it can get. I used the Rustoleum spray paint in Satin Heirloom White (link).

This is the Anders Side Table from @joonloloi! It’s so pretty and solid oak. I was hoping Biscotti would sit in the arch from time to time but she has yet to attempt this 😆
