Here’s the deal: I’ve been eyeing the Gleaming Primrose Mirror from Anthropologie forever, along with many of you home decor lovers. It has the most beautiful details on its thin gold frame and adds just the right amount of elegance in any space.
The catch is that the price ranges from $498 to $1,548 depending on the size. Since I can’t justify dropping $500 for a mirror at this point in my life, I knew it was meant to be when I found this vanity mirror at Goodwill for $19.99.
Please excuse my awesome photoshop skills.
I used this magical product called Rub ‘n Buff in the Gold Leaf color. It’s a wax with metallic pigments and works so much better than your typical sanding, priming, then painting. Here’s what I did:
- Wipe the frame down with a wet paper towel.
- Put some of the product on your finger.
- Rub and buff as needed.
The only down side is the toxic vapor, but all you need to do is crack open a window. It’s really that easy. I did use a paint brush to get to the corners and smaller areas.
Here’s the final look!
